In 2006 the Liverpool City Region became a City Employment Strategy (CES) Pathfinder, one of 15 pilot areas identified by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as being furthest away from the government's aspiration of achieving an 80% employment rate.

‘We need to be working together better on financial inclusion’
